“Memory and time continue to be a major theme in my work. I am constantly inspired by the idea of layering and documenting time and action through my use of materials. When I began working with beeswax, I discovered the potential of each layer applied to make its own permanent marking, indelibly recording the movement of material across the surface of the canvas. Now, I have begun to use fine tools to write into the surface; my subjects are often inspired by historical works in literature and also my own writing. Written across the canvas, the finely scrawled passages appear through my richly painted surface. My goal is that viewing my work in person brings an aesthetic moment when hidden writings, layered textures, and dense colors coalesce to make truly beautiful, unimaginable things happen.”
